As important as understanding the parts that make up the pelvis, is understanding the things that may happen here. Just as a strong pelvic floor can help improve certain conditions and increase sexual satisfaction, when these muscles and tissues weaken, atrophy or lose elasticity, it can lead to common problems like incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain.

Additionally, with the complex system of organs housed within the pelvis, we are subject to cancer and other conditions affecting the reproductive organs.

Some of these complications are the result of aging, hormones, trauma, childbirth or other factors we’ll address in this section, but regardless of their cause—the important thing is you are here! And you aren’t alone.
